Group Details

Are you single? Want to deepen your relationship with Christ? Meet new friends? If so, join us for short-term studies that typically last 6-8 weeks. We usually read a book together and watch the study DVD and have a fruitful discussion time on Thursday evenings.

Our current study:  Untangle Your Emotions by Jennie Allen starts Thursday, September 26, at 7:00p.m. in Dunnam Conference Room.

How often have you heard, “Don’t let your emotions get the best of you”? But what if instead of ignoring our feelings, we notice them, name them, and let God use them to draw us closer to Himself and others?

Many of us need to unlearn damaging messages about our emotions. We’ve been taught, for example, that emotions are untrustworthy, when, in fact, God can use them to help us see where we need His healing.

In Untangle Your Emotions, Jennie Allen uses scientific research, biblical insight, and her own story to help you:

  • Exchange stuffing, dismissing, or minimizing your emotions for a five-step process to know what you feel and what to do about it.
  • Debunk the myth that feelings are sinful by learning how emotional maturity leads to deeper connection with God and others.
  • Live emotionally healthy by applying biblical wisdom and therapeutic research that works whether you self-identify as ‘emotional’ or not.
  • Sit with feelings that are confusing and painful by discovering the depth of God’s love and compassion for you.

Feelings aren’t something to fix; they are something to feel. As we discover how to name and navigate our emotions, we’ll learn how they can draw us closer to the God who built us – soul, mind, and heart.

The next study, I Want to Trust You, But I Don't by Lysa TerKeurst starts on Thursday, January 23, at 7:00p.m. in Jones Library.

Having your trust broken can be life altering, but it doesn't have to be life ruining.

Broken trust complicates every bit of the parts of love that should be comforting.  Maybe a friend constantly lets you down.  A family member betrayed you.  A spouse cheated on you.  A leader deceived you.  You're exhausted by other people's choices and are starting to question:

  • How do I know if it's wise to trust that person again?
  • Will I be able to discern if someone is telling me the truth
  • Is it possible to still trust God when I'm afraid of what He will allow next?

I understand this kind of deep pain and the skepticism that makes us wary.  But I've also learned so much that I want to invite you into my journey and share the scriptural wisdom I've gained , the tools that have been helpful, the setbacks, the victories, and the deepest wrestling I've ever done with questions about myself , others, and even God.

I get the fear of trying again.  But I've some to know the joy of moving into a new seasons and finally feeling safe enough to connect deeply with people who are trustworthy.  Through these pages, you can find the confidence and courage to walk into a future full of possibilities.  I promise you the risks are worth taking.  Now, let's go learn a thing or two about trust.
