Dear TWMC family,
Grace and peace to you all. I pray this message finds each of you well.
As I write this update, it’s presently 5:55 on Tuesday morning, and I am grabbing a quick breakfast before loading our delegate bus and heading into day four of the convening conference of the Global Methodist Church held here in San Jose, Costa Rica.
Before another long day begins, I wanted to share a brief update from our convening conference.
Let me begin here: The presence of the Holy Spirit has been palpable. Through word, worship, prayer and discussions, let me tell you, there has been such a sweet and felt presence of the Holy Spirit. We are experiencing a remarkable move of God, and I am grateful both to witness it firsthand and to share this alongside my brothers and sisters in Christ from around the globe. Truly, we are a global Methodist church.
As we enter our final few days, we are focusing on several important decisions that will shape the future of our church. Among the key issues being addressed is the selection of bishops, where we are discerning the best model for episcopal leadership to ensure our doctrine is faithfully taught and upheld. Additionally, we are formalizing our constitution and finalizing the Book of Doctrines and Discipline, setting the foundation for our shared mission.
As we move into these next few days and continue through these critical conversations, I would love to call for your prayer. Specifically, if you could let John 17:20-23 guide your prayers, that would be wonderful.
Church, I’ve never been more energized as to what’s in store for a people called Methodists. May God guide our hearts and minds as we seek His will for the future of the Global Methodist Church.
It’s an honor to serve for such a time as this!
Look for a churchwide email to go out next week with a recap of everything accomplished here at General Conference.
To God be the glory, great things He has done!
In Christ,
– Mark
